Out of the night Into the light

Palesun 03:33
Gold little cardigan Gone from the room my friend Sunlight cold again Let the warm come in Oh, to lie upon your body now How divine to wander animal Among the leaves, apologies Somewhere under the clouds Hollow and cold inside Sorrow and woe betide Any beam that tries To deny your eyes

Feel at Home 03:14
Don't wanna go where the hole opened long ago My days are clear and I know what I need to know I never wanna feel at home Repetition kills, as you knew when you took the pills Me and your friends spend our days crossing out our wills We never wanna feel at home It's better to be left alone We never wanna feel at home Rumination pulls you underground Open up your eyes Fascination brings you back around It's love if it dies Keep yourself free to run Be yourself, be no one Don't wanna go where the hole opened long ago These days are clear and I know what I need to know I never wanna feel at home A life is better left unknown I never wanna feel at home

I don't think you meant it Said it and regret it, but I don't think you meant it It's all up in my head You're all up in my head I tried to forget it, but You're all up in my head I don't think you meant it Said it and regret it, but I can't forget it

The mirror shows what he should know The code he cracked is now an act The more I look, the less I know him Need to erase his photo face He looks so scared in his reflection But what he sees is his own freedom If I were him I wouldn't worry He wants to go, thinks I don't know But I won't get in the way

Overboard 02:15
There we were, left on the sand I tried to speak, you tried to stand When we dove in we were agreed I'd be the soil, you'd be the seed Far from home, floating in space Adam and Eve, a new human race How could we know, asleep on the sea You were a dream dreaming of me When we awoke we disagreed I was the word, you were the deed

Your Summer 03:18
Garden, flowers, sun and sand Magic conquers any man The soil and the seasons will find you Water flowing under land Flowers growing from your hands The soil and the seasons have found you

Little Bee 02:03
Little bee on August air Do you feel unstable there Will I follow you, do you care Little bee Never seen such joy before In a garden so wild and pure Let us carefully find out more We've never seen Little bee, I think you know How I noticed you long ago Will you follow me, I hope so Little bee

about

These pieces were written in a couple of unexpected creative bursts between 2016 and 2018, when I found myself exploring territories beyond the familiar for me, both musically and psychologically. Acoustic guitar and piano tracks were documented in studio shortly after the bursts occurred, with further layers added later in my bedroom. Headphones recommended.

-----

All songs written and performed by Andrew Glencross except "I Don't Think You Meant It" by Carla Gillis and Andrew Glencross. Carla also sings that one. "A Glowing Pink" text by Marcel Proust.

Piano and acoustic guitar tracks engineered by Charles Austin over three sessions at the Echo Chamber's Kempt Road and then Almon Street incarnations (R.I.P.) in Halifax. Carla recorded her own vocals at home in Toronto, and I did everything else on my laptop.

Cover painting by Amber Graveline. Self-portrait by self.

Charles is still very much alive, in case that was unclear.

about

Andrew Glencross Halifax, Nova Scotia

I've been lucky enough to play with lots of inspiring Halifax musicians. This stuff is mostly just me.

My solo recordings were released under the name Pale Son up until 2021. Now I just feel like being myself. I am still very much a pale son, though.

Painting by Johanna Steffen.
